Operational safety is our top priority at Crestwood. As an important part of our company’s success, we must work to maintain a high standard of safety for ourselves, our neighbors, the public and the environment.
Crestwood aims to ensure that its pipeline operations are constructed and maintained at a level that meets or exceeds all state and federal regulations. To maintain the integrity of Crestwood facilities – including both pipelines and plants – trained personnel implement a number of operational procedures.
Most pipelines transporting energy resources like natural gas, crude oil and other hydrocarbon resources are usually made of steel. Corrosion-resistant waterproof coatings preserve the integrity of Crestwood pipelines, while a process called cathodic protection deters any corrosion of the steel.
Crestwood's pipeline operations are controlled by a pipeline control center. Trained personnel monitor flow rates, pressures, valve positions and the operations of compressor stations. Controllers can shut down pipeline operations quickly if a problem is detected.
Crestwood also regularly inspects its rights-of-way using air, foot and vehicle patrols. Our trained inspectors look for activities near our pipelines, such as construction and excavation, to ensure the security and integrity of our pipelines. We communicate regularly with emergency officials, local police and fire departments, and we have detailed coordination plans in place in case of an emergency.
